The Importance of the Inter-Professional Team and Shared-Decision Making
This module of the Eight-Part Cystic Fibrosis Interview Series highlights the inter-professional team and their important role in treating the CF patient. Debbie Benitez RN, MSN, ACNP-BC will discuss with Dr. John P. Clancy the various health care professionals that impact the care of CF patients. She will explain how a mental health coordinator, physical therapist, and pharmacist contribute to the overall health and well-being of CF patients. Cystic fibrosis is a complex disease and a collaborative approach based on shared-decision making is critical in moving forward with patient care.
TARGET AUDIENCE
These activities are designed for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with cystic fibrosis.
LEARNING OUTCOME STATEMENTS
At the conclusion of this activity:
KNOWLEDGE: Participants will self-report knowledge gained based on best practices for using shared decision making when treating patients with cystic fibrosis.
COMPETENCE/SKILL: Participants will self-report intent to change practice by applying a collaborative approach during the management and care of patients with cystic fibrosis.
